... is the campsite I love best at Fox Mountain Campground and Artist Retreat. The Remote Site snuggles in a secluded grove under a shining green canopy of white oak and tulip poplar trees. The understory on the wooded

slope surrounding the site includes pines, rhododendron bushes, mountain laurel, and - SURPRISE! - a patch of Juneberry bushes! So convenient that summer campers can pick breakfast berries without leaving camp! I always sleep well here, nestled in the arms of the mountain. Wood Thrush wakes me at dawn in this mystical grove, singing sweetly as I silently sing my own song of celebration for a new day on Fox Mountain. LOGISTICS: From the gravel parking lot to the Remote Campsite - about seventy (70) steps on a dirt path, first down slightly and then up a moderate hill. From the gravel parking lot to the Showerhouse - about one hundred and sixty (160) steps up a gravel road with a very steep incline at the top. Best to pause and enjoy the view down the grassy hill where by day wildflowers bloom and by night golden fireflies twirl and twinkle over the darkened meadow.
